‘Church’ Isn’t Even a Religious Word

What do you think of when you think of church? For some, even the term is a turnoff. Perhaps bad experiences in the past or even the present have soured one's response. Did you know the term “church” is not even a religious word? It's a term that means “the called out;” people that are responding to a call; a town hall meeting to discuss the latest restrictions in the city, or the new regulations passed down by the city council qualifies as a group that is called out.

The single distinguishing factor for a church is their reason for coming together. In other words, you may be part of a church without ever participating in a religious service at all. Isn't that something? The Bible mentions this group is a church, a family, a body, the kingdom, many terms; all descriptive of people who are answering the call of God to be His people.

Now, that's the church I want to be a part of. You can be too.
