Potluck 101

I love potlucks, don't you?

One of the highlights of church fellowship is the potluck meal. Everyone, or at least almost everyone, prepares a few of their favorite dishes and brings it to the building and people walk by to a self-serve meal. Casseroles, meat, dishes, vegetables, fruit salad and those delicious pies. I'm already hungry. Did you know there's a rule at church potlucks that helps us understand the church? You learn it in a class. I'd like to teach entitled Potluck 101. And here's the rule: Always get a small portion of a dish, never a large helping. If it's good, the third and fourth bite will never be as good as the first two. If it's not good, it won't be nearly as embarrassing for you when someone sees you leaving on your plate. That's a picture of the church. Differing people, tastes, preferences and personalities. What they share is their commitment to being God's people. We would love for you to be a part of the family here at Germantown.
