We’ve talked about it since the Elders’ Breakfast in January. It is now time for Vacation Bible School to be on full display. The workers have been putting together the outstanding learning centers for their focus on “Trusting God.” The stories of Creation, Noah, David and Daniel are ready to be told. All we need is you—and your children!

Have you ever heard of Pheidippedes? I confess that I hadn’t either. But thanks to Dino Russos, our Greek brother in Christ, I do know. But first, Ann and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Athens for the 6th Annual Mediterranean Conference.

Vacation Bible School is just around the corner and I hope both adults and children are preparing to participate. We have a busy schedule for our children, but adults also have the privilege of opening and closing sessions.

I can’t think of a time when I didn’t enjoy Vacation Bible School! It didn’t have to be so fancy (I always enjoyed cookies and Kool-Aid whatever the reason). But there was also the opportunity to do something during this week that was ‘different from the normal class’ and that is what was special.

What a week! Mark McInteer did a fantastic job of pointing us back to the Word in order to see how the love of God motivates us. We talked about it, sang about it and prayed about it. Now, we get to live it! How much do we love God - and love our neighbors? God’s work at Germantown continues.

Yes, sir! The summer is getting better and better. I’m glad we have the Summer Series. I get a chance when I am going to other congregations to send greetings from Germantown - as well as see what is happening in area congregations. All I can say is that we are blessed with many good brothers and sisters in Christ who are meeting on Wednesday nights around our area.

I love Summer! Look at the list of activities planned! Did you notice the coming of Mid-South Youth Camp? I never had the privilege of going to Summer Camp as a child. It just wasn’t a big item in our area of the country. But as an adult, I began attending summer camp with our children from church and found that it was tremendous!

Again, just because it is summer does not mean that the activities come to a halt. There was a very successful diaper drive/distribution this past weekend with several good opportunities for follow-up visits and studies. We rejoice with these. Ultimate took place on Friday and Saturday of this week—and we are always thrilled at the beginning of the youth activities for the summer.
