The Importance (and Challenge) of Communication

What did we do before the Internet? Well, we probably talked with each other more often; genuine conversations where we wrestled with our thoughts and actually received an honest, well-thought out, unhurried response from friends that was kind, caring and considerate.

Or maybe not.

Communication has always been a challenge. Our electronic messages have limited our ability to relate empathy, concern and compassion. We use only the written language, and even that at times is limited to 280 characters.

One of the beauties of the church family is that our caring concern goes far deeper than hastily written words. We share a common need for purpose in life and clarity in our goals. When we talk to God today, we can use words, tweets, messages or face time. He also hears cries, sees tears, and heals broken hearts. He's been communicating for a long time in more ways than you can imagine.
