Was Jesus Ever Lonely?

Was Jesus ever lonely?

Doesn't that sound like an odd question? Jesus, the one who knew what it was like to live in the heavenly realms, knowing exactly who the Father and the Holy Spirit are and what they look like? Could such a being actually be lonely? And the answer must be yes. The Bible says he was tempted in all the ways we are tempted. Yet he never did sin. He laughed, cried, grieved, suffered and felt lonely. Yet he never sinned.

The one activity in which Jesus was consistently and actively involved in was prayer. He prayed for the needs of other people (read a lengthy prayer of his in John 17) and he prayed for his own needs. You remember the one in the Garden of Gethsemane where he prayed that there might be another way to accomplish his task?

Jesus found an instantaneous listening ear from God when he prayed, and he prayed frequently. Shouldn't we be praying at least as much as he did?
