Well, time flies doesn’t it? It doesn’t seem like that long ago that we were introduced to Alfred and Diana Zike, and now we are winding up the 6-week visit that allowed us to get to know them even better. We are delighted that they are working with the Germantown church.

Sometimes, I take it for granted that everyone knows the history of our area-wide worship service, which we have called, “Our Journey of Faith.” Perhaps a little background will help us see what possibilities we have in working with this each year.

Mission Sunday was a wonderful success! We had people visiting with us wanting to learn more about our missions and we had people who were here to share about works with which they are involved. It was such a good day. Our congregation was informed about what is happening.

Today, there will be a combination of reports from both domestic and international works. Our heavy emphasis will be on the international efforts, though. Partly because we have two missionary families here with us.

Mission Sunday is next week! This is a wonderful day for us to gather to worship. But you could probably excuse us if we are looking forward to next week (in the back of our minds). Of course, we are glad to be able to worship God on any first day of the week—and this is no different.

We said, “So long!” to our summer interns, but hopefully, not for long. We’ll probably see them around at some point. J.W. did a great job preaching to us, and J.P. did a fantastic job ofcoordinating our appreciation fellowship after the PM service.

“Hello! It’s nice to meet you!” “So long for a while!” “We are glad to get better acquainted!” All these sentiments have been expressed in recent days. It is a sign that we are going through a great summer.

As much as we talked about it, there was even more joy and satisfaction in conducting our VBS! Mary Katherine Stewart did a great job coordinating our learning centers, but the amount of volunteers she had working with her made the entire event come together in a spectacular way.
